turns out, on february 14, 2025 (valentine’s day—someone’s lawyer is really out here ruining the mood), the anonymous accuser (jane doe) and her legal tag team tony buzbee and antigone curis dropped the case in federal court. why? well… that’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it?

hov wasted ZERO time putting this nonsense behind him. he basically moonwalked over the lawsuit’s grave and then threw a mic drop statement out into the void:

his legal team? trying so hard to make this dismissal feel like a win. they put out a lil’ statement saying the whole case was “built on falsehoods, not facts” but like… again… 40+ lawsuits bro. we are WAY past the point of spin control.

okay so this is where things get MESSY. jane doe initially said she was drugged and raped by jay-z & diddy at an mtv vmas afterparty in 2000—but then some major inconsistencies started popping up.
like, for example, she said she talked to benji madden (of good charlotte fame—aka 2003’s pop-punk boyfriend of the year) but THEN benji’s team was like “nah fam, he was on tour in the midwest” sooo WHO DID SHE TALK TO. WHO.
also, she claimed there was a jumbotron at the event that proved her story but—wait for it—there was NO JUMBOTRON. imagine taking your whole case to court and then getting destroyed by the lack of a giant screen.
even her own father couldn’t back up certain details of her timeline.
eventually, jane doe admitted she made “some mistakes” in her recollection (which, uh, YEAH, that’s kinda important), and honestly—at that point—the case was deader than my 2008 myspace page.
the bigger problem—legal system? straight up a circus now
jay-z’s biggest beef (besides being accused of one of the worst crimes imaginable) is with the legal system itself—because this lawsuit should’ve never made it this far. and honestly… he’s got a point.
his whole rant about “1-800 lawyers” throwing random lawsuits at rich people to see what sticks is lowkey real. like, this was a MASSIVE accusation with almost no supporting evidence, and yet, it dragged jay-z’s name through the mud for MONTHS before getting yeeted out of court.
diddy’s team is also complaining about how easily people can file lawsuits—but like… sir. you have 40+ active cases. you don’t get to complain about the legal system.
